One of the most important stages or transitions in a child’s life is getting ready for school, and understanding that the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curricula follow the Early Years Foundation Stage in the continuum of a child’s education. It is important for parents to understand the importance of their child’s development in all aspects of learning.
As some of you may already know, to help you understand the areas of learning and development we now have a list of ‘Preparing children for school... Activities’ which are being added to our blog each month. These activities are explained along with and are linked with the Early Years Foundation Stage learning goals, which you can find in your copy of the EYFS ‘Areas of Learning Development a Parents Guide’.
They include a variety of activities designed to promote learning letters and numbers. All of which you can do at home if you have the resources, or you can adapt them! We encourage all parents to read each months ‘Preparing children for school... Activities’ article as these may help you with continuing your child’s development at home and preparing them for school readiness.
We have posted the last few months ‘Preparing children for school... Activities’ articles here, but please remember to keep reading our weekly blog as more up to date information will be shared there on a more regular basis.
