Funded Nursery Entitlement 3 & 4 Year Olds

Our Childcare Offer for Extended Funding
This is the framework within which Grafton Childcare provides the 30 Hours of Funded Childcare for Eligible Working Parents. Most 3 and 4 year olds of most working parents become eligible for 1140 hours of government funded early education and childcare per year - the equivalent of just over 23 hours per week stretched over
the 49 weeks, Grafton Childcare operates.

There is no mandatory pattern of delivery set by the Department of Education and it is up to settings themselves to decide when and if they offer
parents funded hours or how many funded hours they offer per week.

Here at Grafton Childcare in order to remain a sustainable business we have decided that we can only provide the Early Years Extended Entitlement 'stretched' across the 49 weeks per year that we operate and we are unable to offer places term-time only to parents who only wish to take up a funded place.

For those parents seeking term-time only Extended Funded Childcare they may be better suited at looking for a placement in a School Nursery Class.

However should a child wish to use their Early Years and Extended Entitlement here at Grafton Childcare, they will be able to claim 23 hours a week for the full 49 weeks a year we operate.

Attendance patterns similar to those below will be on offer:-

For those parents wishing to access a 100% funded space without our £1.09 'Additional Services and Consumables' charge of £25.07 per week, this figure equates to a child using their whole 23 hours of 'stretched' entitlement at Grafton Childcare.

We shall be offering a maximum of one space each day between 1pm-6pm on Mondays,  Tuesdays and Wednesdays (days available are subject to change and can only be booked a maximum of one term in advance due to the possible movement of privately funded children in the setting).

For those parents wishing to access more flexible childcare provision suitable to most working parents we shall offer the following attendance patterns:-

A minimum of three 8 hour days bookable between 7 am and 7 pm per day e.g. 7 am - 3 pm on three days Mondays to Fridays = 24 hours a week with an 'Additional Services and Consumables Charge' and one hours non funded childcare charge of just £30.32 per week for 49 weeks per year. That's Flexible, Guaranteed, 'Stretched' Daily Childcare for less than £10.11 a day. These 8 hour sessions are bookable between 7 am - 3 pm, 7.30 am - 3.30 pm, 8 am - 4 pm. 8.30 am - 4.30 pm, 9 am - 5 pm and 10 am - 6 pm, additional hours of non funded childcare may be booked at the rate of £5.25 per hour or part there of.

Every child in Devon is entitled to up to 15 hours funded nursery provision per week during term time if you attend a term-time only Preschool or School Nursery Class or 570 hours 'stretched' across the 49 weeks Grafton Childcare is open, from the term after their third birthday until they start school. These sessions are funded by Devon County Council.

Grafton Childcare is paid directly for these funded sessions, although we claim them on your child’s behalf and you may be asked to sign a Headcount Form each term, so that we will be reimbursed for the costs of the sessions your child has attended.

Our Childcare Offer for Universal Funding
This is the framework within which Grafton Childcare provides the 3 Year old Universal Service:

  • Min of one eight hour day per week, stretched across 49 weeks per year.
  • Between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm
  • This attendance pattern will use 490 of your 570 funded hours.
  • The remaining 80 funded hours may be booked as 8 additional eight hour days 'stretched' equally across the year. This is to make sure that each child receives their full funded entitlement.

Devon County Council refund us at a rate of only £4.16 per hour per child and this rate has been capped until April 2021.

As part of an all year round 'stretched', Universal childcare place. In this case the first 10 hours per week (with a maximum of 10 hours in any single day) are funded. However all drinks, snacks, meals and consumables are chargeable 'Additional Services' as these are not funded by the Universal or Early Years Entitlement and will be charged at an optional £1.09 per funded hour.
This equates to £8.72 per week for a child attending one eight hour Universal or Early Years Entitlement day.

However you may supply all of your child’s nappies, wipes, drinks, snacks and meals if you so wish but you might wish to read “Our Little Kitchen” page before deciding to do so. Please fully read our fees page for full details of our minimum weekly attendance details, which are all 'stretched' across the 49 weeks which we are open.
