- Our Daily Schedule -
We recognise that infants and toddlers do not necessarily follow the same schedule as older pre-schoolers. They may need morning naps for example.
Infants are always fed on demand and toddlers usually eat meals and snacks with other children.
While older children engage in free play we try to take some extra time to play with the infants and toddlers. Feeding and nappy changing times are good periods for interaction with babies and younger children.
Of course all children develop differently, and whenever these 'wee ones' wish to join in with the older ones (unless it is not a safe activity for them), they are encouraged to do so.
Since infants and toddlers cannot communicate well enough to parents we supply a diary book which is completed daily. The diary includes such things as meal times, food and amount of food eaten, times of nappy changes, nap times and details of our day's activities. It is a two-way communication aid which offers the chance for parents and ourselves to add comments with the aim of helping us to deliver the best care possible to your child.
We provide a variety of age-appropriate toys for indoor play. Toys may be rotated or placed temporarily out of use so that the children do not become bored.
Younger children have less-developed organisational skills and can get easily frustrated or upset when there are too many toys to choose from. It is also more difficult for them to help with clean-up when there are toys everywhere, because it is so overwhelming for them. For this reason, during free play times, each child may select one or two things at a time to play with. They are shown how to put those things away before selecting something else.
